About Cue Sports Australia

In the mid-1990s the Australian Confederation of Cue Sports (ACCS) was established. Its members were the Australian Billiards And Snooker Council (ABSC) and the Australian Eight Ball Federation (AEBF).

In mid-2004 there were discussions about bringing the Australian Pool Players Federation (APPF) into the ACCS. By 3 May 2005 agreement was reached with Edward Charlton as the representative for the APPF. The ACCS was to change its name to the Australian Confederation of Billiard Sports (ACBS) and a new Constitution was to be approved. The first meeting of the newly named ACBS occurred in August 2005. At the meeting the following persons were in attendance Joe Fanto for the AEBF, Mike Peachey and Barrie Jones for the ABSC and Edward Charlton for the APPF.

There was a falling out with the APPF in 2007. The ACBS then remained dormant for the next 11 years.

In 2018 as a result of the initiatives of the ABSC, the ACBS was revived with new membership and a new impetus. Its mission was to unify and represent all cue sports codes in Australia. In 2021 the Australian Pool Players Association (APPA) joined with ABSC and the AEBF to become one of three equal members of the ACBS. Since that time the three members have worked closely and cooperatively towards developing a true national voice for cue sports in Australia.

On 4 March 2022 there was a general meeting of the ACBS. At that time its name was changed to Cue Sports Australia to align it with other national “umbrella” bodies.
